Church of San Lorenzo el Real
The name “el Real” comes from the burials of the Castilla-Fonseca family, illegitimate descendants of Peter I of Castile, who were buried in an impressive Gothic tomb.
The building consists of a single nave raised on a stone base. It was built between the 12th and 13th centuries in Mudéjar style.
Inside, the remains of paintings in the apse and a 15th-century altarpiece by Fernando Gallegos are especially important.
This place forms part of the cultural heritage that makes Toro one of the most interesting destinations in Zamora for a monumental, wine-focused and gastronomic getaway.
